The Co-ordinator of TRUST published a book on “Dignity in the 21st Century” with the former President of Iran. It is available as gold open access here. Banisadr and Doris argue that Western and Koran-based interpretations of dignity have a common essence, namely dignity as a sense of self-worth, which we have a duty to develop and respect in ourselves and a duty to protect in others. She also identified six types of dignity in Western debates, as seen in the diagram. Whilst the TRUST project centres around the values of fairness, honesty, respect and care, the value of dignity is also often raised in global research ethics.
