Dr Jane Wathuta has a PhD in Bioethics (Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, Italy, 2014) and is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at the School of Law, University of the Witwatersrand (Johannesburg, South Africa). She has previously worked with Strathmore University and Kianda Foundation Educational Trust (both based in Nairobi, Kenya). She is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, and also a member of the Research Ethics Committee of the Centre for Research in Therapeutic Sciences (CREATES) that partners with Strathmore University, as the lead institution, the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) of South Africa and the African Centre for Clinical Trials (ACCT). She has undertaken Bioethics training with the University of Nairobi, KAVI (Kenya AIDS Vaccine Initiative) – Institute of Clinical Research, as well as Ethics teacher training with the UNESCO – Steve Biko Centre for Bioethics, and the University of South Africa (UNISA) – Tshwane University of Technology (TUT – Pretoria, South Africa).
