The 02nd of March 2017 was a historical day for the San Communities of South Africa. They launched their own local cultural specific San Code of Research Ethics

The San have been of great academic research interest for the past decades. However, due to numerous complex reasons the San often suffered from inequitable research relationships and ethics dumping. TRUST reported about this previously in their Report on Paradigmatic Case Studies

To avoid future exploitation within research the San have now, with the support of the TRUST project, formulated their own San Code of Research Ethics, which was launched officially at Cape Town Company Gardens by the South African San Council on 02nd of March 2017.

The Code of Research Ethics as well as the launch speech are available here.
